Thomas Grandjean

Thomas is Kevin Webb's first black belt, which was awarded in the summer of 2018. Thomas originally started training in Judo when he was 6 years old and attained his Judo black belt when he was 17 years old. He has won medals in Judo competitions such as the BJC Nationals, the British Universities & Colleges Sport Championships, and the London Open. Thomas is a BJA 3rd Dan, which he won by line up at High Wycombe Judo Centre of Excellence in July 2010.

 

  In 2010, Thomas transitioned into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) training. He has won BJJ competitions such as the British Open and the Hereford Open, and won super fights by submission on events such as Battle Grapple and Subf15teen. He has also competed in Roll Models and Polaris qualifiers.

Thomas coached Judo at Warwick University and in various schools around Oxfordshire and Worcestershire for over a decade prior to founding the BJJ club at Warwick University. He was awarded Full University Colours for sporting achievements and the prestigious Terry Monnington award for his outstanding contribution to sport at Warwick University. Thomas aims to teach BJJ as an effective martial art and competitive sport. He believes that hard training improves your character and aspires to promote discipline, self-control and perseverance.
